52 in 52

Welcome to 52 in 52 …

What is 52 in 52? It is a challenge I have set myself, that over the next year I will read 52 books in 52 weeks. There is no set theme, genre or length to the books, and if necessary one book can take longer then 1 week, as long as I complete 52 by the end of the year.

  1. I’m sure like me there are lots of books that you have seen over the years and thought, “I would really like to read that”, but have never got round to actually doing so. It may be that you forgot or that you are really busy or perhaps you just prefer to watch X Factor on Saturday night instead of sitting on the sofa with a book. All of these reasons are fully justified, however they could just be an excuse, so I decided to make it a fun challenge instead.
  2. My job means I spend A LOT of time on public transport, in fact on an average working day it can be as much as 4.5 hours, that’s a lot of time to fill. Whilst I have some awesome Spotify playlists I wanted to use the time more productively. I have previously used this time to write, however I can’t always guarantee a seat allowing me to do so. Reading is also a chance to let my mind reset/escape for a few moments in the middle of a hectic working day, as books have the ability to make us laugh, make us cry, make us think and even ┬átransport us to far away lands. I just have to make sure I don’t miss my stop!
  3. As someone who considers themselves a writer, there are days when I am filled with inspiration and other days when I feel completely uninspired, what better way to spark new ideas then reading someone else’s. It can be as simple as a single sentence or even a whole story that gets the creative juices flowing.

After each book, I will be posting a review so that I can track my progress and so you can come along for the ride to. Feel free to suggest books via the comments section or via the contact page, you can also reach out to me on Twitter or Instagram, as well as using #52in52.

Ready …. Set …. Read!
