When I started this blog, I had a series of goals that I set myself as a way to motivate myself on a daily basis and overall I have done pretty well on the promise I made to myself. Even if I haven’t achieved the goal fully, I am well on my way to doing so. Here is a quick recap.
1. To stop doing the jobs I don’t enjoy.
This one is done and done! I now spend my days working full time as a personal trainer for The Tracy Anderson Method, and I love it. I love the freedom it gives me, I love travelling around London and I love how strong my body feels as a result. I also love the free time I have to pursue my other passions.
2. To write 1 new post every week for this blog.
So I started out really well on this one, however a couple of things happened to effect this goal. Firstly I wrote an unexpectedly popular post about the loss of my brother and after publishing it I couldn’t find anything I felt comfortable writing about. I then had a very turbulent summer due to a change in my personal life and whilst I wrote A LOT, I didn’t feel comfortable publishing any of it. That is about to change.
3. To start earning income from this blog.
Hmmmm well I haven’t earned anything directly from this blog, however I have had a lot of opportunities presented to me as a result of having this blog. So in a round about way it’s happened, however I will continue with this goal.
4. To complete a Tough Mudder.
I did it!!! It was an amazing day! I was freezing cold, covered in mud from head to toe, and having the best time ever! If you haven’t done one, or feel too scared to do one, stop procrastinating and just do it!
5. To guest blog on at least one blog.
Well I smashed this one, I didn’t do one, I didn’t do 2, I did 3!!!!! Whoop. Thank you to John’s Road To Volunteering. Thank you to A Branch Of Holly! Thank you to Carbon38, who I am now a regular guest blogger for.
6. To travel to a country I have never been to before.
I have definitely been travelling! I have just spent 6 and a half weeks in The Hamptons, NY and also flew to Norway, where I stayed in Bergen, somewhere I have never been before.
7. To decorate the spare bedroom.
This was completed pretty early on, however I am still looking for the perfect desk … any recommendations, please leave in the comments.
8. To be performing on a regular basis.
Does being in the current Lucozade advert count? I’m on your TV several times a day. I have also been performing as both a dancer and singer and various events around London.
9. To spend more quality time with my family.
This has actually extended beyond my family to my friends. I am reconnecting with them and making the time to speak with them everyday, as well as meeting so many new people. In the last few months so many incredible and beautiful new faces have come into my life and I am so grateful for everyone of them.
So there’s a quick recap of the past 6 months. It’s interesting to look back over your goals and re-evaluate them to see if the same things still hold the same importance to you half a year down the line.
The Next Step ….
So much more has changed over the past 6 months, more then I ever could of imagined when I set these goals and so now it’s time to set new ones and really start reaching for the stars.
1. To meditate for a minimum of 5mins every day!
The benefits of meditation is something that has recently become a mainstream topic and it’s something that I have always wanted to master. On the occasions I have done it consistently, I have felt a noticeable difference in how I think and feel.
2. To write one new blog post a week.
I want to revisit this goal as I think I need to complete it for longer then 4 months.
3. To re-decorate the apartment.
I have just gone through a major personal life change and with it I think it is necessary to ensure that your environment matches your new state of mind.
4. To re-build my singing voice.
I have always been a singer and I still do singing jobs, however I recently went to my first singing lesson in several years and realised just how much I miss doing it properly. So I want to start going again weekly and getting my voice back to the power house it used to be.
5. To try something new once a month and then to write about it.
It’s so easy to get stuck in the same routine, get up, work, home, dinner, sleep, weekend, pub, work, occasional wedding or birthday. I want to try/do as many new things as I can to keep things exciting and interesting.
Ok so this time I’m only starting with 5 goals, as I feel they are all pretty big ones and I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment, or you. I may add to these as the weeks pass. So here is goes … I always find it so exciting to start new adventures.
